 Our DS/SADI Core Bariatric Multivitamin with 60 mg Iron has been designed with the same commitment to quality as all our other vitamins to meet the nutritional needs of those who have specifically undergone Duodenal Switch (BPD/DS or DS) and SADI procedures; helping you to reduce the risk of malnutrition and vitamin or mineral deficiency. Optimizing nutritional status allows the body to function at its highest capacity which may also increase energy levels, enhance your metabolism, and may lead to greater weight loss.

Some patients may find in talking with their healthcare team that their vitamin ADEK needs along with a few other key nutrients are higher than other patients. For this reason, we created the new ADEK Plus companion product so you can supplement in the way that is right for YOU! Because over-supplementation can be just as detrimental as under-supplementation.

The new ADEK Plus product includes the recent upgrades similar to the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin to maximize absorption, enhance toleration and provide optimized nutrition supplementation for DS and SADI patients. This companion product allows customized supplementation based on individual needs to meet unique needs and various surgical techniques and differences. Talk with your healthcare team to determine if you need only the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin or if you should bundle the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin with the DS/SADI ADEK Plus. 

The DS/SADI ADEK Plus should not be taken as a stand-alone multivitamin product and is not intended to be substituted for the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin.

Procedure Specific: Both the DS and SADI procedures bypass the part of the small intestine that is the primary site of absorption for several vitamins and minerals. Patients undergoing these procedures are at an increased risk of malabsorption which may lead to conditions such as metabolic disorders, diarrhea, fatigue, anemia, vitamin or mineral deficiencies, and/or protein deficiency. Some patients have more aggressive procedures than others, meaning they have a shorter common channel or the amount of intestine left to absorb nutrients.

• Optimized copper supplementation by using copper glycine to achieve the added benefits of glycine (may improve sleep and reduce daytime sleepiness, may support blood sugar control, may improve mental performance and memory, may reduce fatigue, may aid in stress reduction, may improve digestion, and may help improve joint health)
• Adopted a modern approach to vitamin K supplementation by including both K1 and K2, which the two are highly bioavailable (well-absorbed), however some experts believe K2 stays in the blood and circulates longer allowing for more impact to the body and allows the nutrient to be used to its full potential
• K1 is predominantly responsible for blood clotting in the body while K2 plays a critical role in bone health which is extremely important after bariatric surgery. We split vitamin K2 as a 50/50 blend of MK-4 and MK-7; MK-7 appears to circulate in the body longer while MK-4 appears to improve bone strength. However, all forms of vitamin K are important for overall health and this is why we took this important step to include a blend, something not all companies are setting as a priority

Fat-Soluble Vitamins (A, D, E, K): Both of these procedures make it harder for you to digest and absorb fat, which includes necessary fat-soluble vitamins. All the fat-soluble vitamins not only meet the current ASMBS recommendations when paired with our DS/SADI CORE Multivitamin but also have been optimized based on clinical expertise. They are provided in a water-miscible form for better absorption. Utilizing both the CORE multivitamin and the companion ADEK Plus products increases the levels of vitamins ADEK to a premier level for those patients that need additional support.

Magnesium: Included 100 mg of magnesium in this companion product to provide a total of 200 mg of magnesium for patients taking our DS/SADI Bundle (Core Multivitamin and ADEK Plus products). This makes the total supplementation a 50/50 blend of citrate and oxide and allows us to provide the highest level of magnesium citrate to DS and SADI patients available currently on the market. Magnesium has a role in many critical processes in the body including muscle and nerve function, bone health, heart health, maintaining blood sugar levels, metabolism, sleep quality, and may help to reduce anxiety. One of the biggest symptoms bariatric patients report when they experience low levels of magnesium include leg cramps and poor sleep.

Zinc: Zinc is trace mineral essential forwound healing, breaking down carbohydrates and is needed for the senses of smell and taste. It also enhances the action of insulin. Higher levels of zinc were added to this companion product in order to prevent the risk of deficiency which can be common with these procedures when not supplemented properly.

Copper: Copper is another important trace mineral that helps to create red blood cells, plays a role in bone health, is important in learning and memory, maintaining a healthy immune system, maximizing your metabolism, and is a powerful antioxidant. Higher levels of copper are included to prevent the risk of deficiency which can be common with these procedures when not supplemented properly.

*Patients that have undergone adjustable gastric band and similar surgeries should NOT take this vitamin.*

*Patients should NOT take this product (ADEK PLUS) in place of the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin. It is meant to be a companion product and taken in conjunction with the DS/SADI Core Multivitamin for those patients that have increased nutritional needs.*
